Autumn and winter is a great time to be in Cornwall. When the Atlantic gales lash miles of empty beaches, when seabirds are tossed high around the cliffs, this is when you see the truly romantic side to the county, the wild romance that inspired Daphne du Maurier and John Betjemen as well as hundreds of artists. Shores House makes a great bolthole and we have deliberately kept our out-of-season tariff very attractive so you can use the house with just your closest friends or even by yourself for a long weekend.

Spring comes earlier to Cornwall than anywhere else in Britain. Daffodils start flowering before Christmas, followed quickly by Camelias and all manner of exotic shrubs. There are more world-class gardens down here than anywhere else in the world, and many of them are at their best in February, March and April. These are the places that the great Victorian plant-hunters ended their epic journeys from around the globe. If you came to stay for a month, you would still not be able to visit all of them.

Again, we have priced these periods to make a romantic week or long weekend highly attractive. Should you want such a stay to be fully catered with your own chef to look after you, just give us enough notice and we’ll make all of the arrangements. We can also prepare botanical itineries around whichever gardens are at their best during your stay.
